With blue collar jobs in the decline, any investment on manufacturing can make a huge difference. Which is why when Continental –– one of the largest multinational manufacturing companies in the world –– announced their latest investment portfolio, we were glad to see massive influx of money going to manufacturing in North America. Let us tell you more about the excellent news.

Who is Continental?

Founded in Hanover, Germany, back in 1871, Continental has come a long way. Originally a rubber manufacturer, the company now specializes in all things related to automotive parts: from brake systems, to interior electronics, to automotive safety and much, much more.

Major investments

Earlythis year, Continental announced plans to invest a whopping $40 million to expand its hydraulic business in North America. The plans include a new manufacturing facility in Mexico to increase and complement regional manufacturing capabilities as well as additional capacity to improve customer service and expand in key industries.

The hydraulic products that will be manufactured thanks to this investment will benefit different industries across the board, including agriculture, construction, energy, engineering, and fluid transport in industrial vehicles.

It is expected that Continental’s plans will create 150 additional jobs. In addition, such investment illustrates Continental’s commitment to the region and will have good outcomes for North American neighbors in the years to come.

High demand

Continental is making such a big investment in order to best serve the hose market, which the company noted is booming and in high demand for more quality products. Construction of the manufacturing plant is expected to begin later this year, with operations expected to start sometime in 2024. The products manufactured therein should be hitting the shelves soon thereafter.

The manufacturing plant will be strategically built in Mexico in order to support ongoing activity in other Continental facilities and ensure success for the long term. It is expected to expand Continental’s portfolio of industrial hoses and fittings, all of which will have a ripple effect on other industries that benefit from the company’s great products.
